Woodworking Wednesday!!!

YAY!  It's actually Wednesday.  Time usually gets away from you when you're meal planning, homeschooling 3, keeping the house in some sort of order, taking care of an infant, creating handmade items for Christmas, oh yeah, and getting ready to move.  Phew, just saying it makes me want to take a nap.  Back in May, I was doing a purge clean in the boy's room.  I was fed up with all the small containers we had the toys in so hubby and I got together and he put this together for me.
It's absolutely beautiful and holds all the toys that we had scattered over 2 containers.  Not to mention, this thing is crazy sturdy and can withstand our 2 crazy boys.  I love it.  Hope you enjoyed.  All for now.

Woodworking Wednesday!!

I know, I'm late again.  Yesterday was a challenging day, but I am determined to show off my hubby's beautiful work (and maybe a few things I have made ;P).  The piece I'm showing off today was another brain child of my hubby.  I, for several years now, have wanted a grandfather clock or at the very least a chiming clock.  Well, they are quite expensive if you've ever priced one.  So hubby said, would you like me to make you one.  I said sure.  He went to the garage and Voila, he came back with this very beautiful clock.  The routing on it is fantastic.  He did such an awesome job.
I'm absolutely in love with it and the fact that every hour (except at night) it chimes a beautiful song.  I hope you love it too. :)  All for now.

Christmas Gift Ideas

I am not one of those people that skips over holidays.  I do not like the fact that people are already decorating for Christmas.  That's just me.  But since a lot of the gifts I'm making are handmade and I have an infant and three other children and we're getting ready to move, I had to already start creating.  I decided to share one of my ideas with you all because the person receiving is not old enough to get online.  The gift I'm gonna show you is a rag bag gift bag.  It serves to purposes, a gift bag and a little purse. This particular one is for my niece so we will be filling it with crayons, a book, a coloring and activity book and Christmas candy of some sorts. She can use as a little purse when she pulls everything out.
It's super simple and I made this one in one afternoon so you could make a few for the little girls in your family.  I would love to see pics if you make any.  All for now.

Woodworking Wednesday!!!!

I know, it's Thursday.  I meant to post this yesterday.  I've decided to start this little series to highlight and show off the pieces that my gifted and very talented husband makes.  I've been meaning to do this for some time now, but life happens and I prefer to enjoy it.  We like to build together and I have made a few pieces by myself, but he is definitely the carpenter in our house.  A lot of the pieces we (he) make are out of necessity.  I'll tell him what has popped into my head, draw up a rough sketch and he just makes it.  Most of the projects that we have created, whether it be wood or not, have been creations of necessity.  Several years ago hubby picked up this passion and has become very skilled.  I joke with him that a lot of the weight for our move will be power tools and things in the garage.  And it's always a plus that his passion has made us some money.  That's always a good thing, right.  The first piece I'll show off is a small piece.  A few months ago, he was approached by someone needing a display for a Louisville slugger baseball bat and wondered if they could buy a few from him, so he went to the drawing board, made a few designs and came up with this beautiful design.
After he built it, he brought it to me for customizing.  All I do is draw out the stencil and he wood burns it.  I love it and I think he did such a fantastic job.  'Til next week. :)

Fall Yumminess!!

I absolutely love greens.  All forms, mustard, turnip, collard, it doesn't matter.  So I figured I would post a recipe that I love.

Collard Green Soup

1 bag frozen collard greens (16 oz.) (You could substitute any greens)
2 small potatoes (peeled and chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
4 cups chicken broth
1 lb smoked sausage (chopped)
salt and pepper to taste

Super simple, throw everything in a crockpot and put it on high for 2 or 3 hours.  I like to make some cornbread to eat with it.  I'm old fashioned and lived with my grandma for 4 years so I like southern cornbread (not sweet) and I cook mine in my cast iron skillet.  If you would like my recipe for that, just let me know.  Let me know if you cook it.  I would love to hear how yours turned out and if you loved it.  All for now.

Celebrating and Rejoicing (Happy Birthday Hannah!!)

Sorry I'm a little late with getting this post out.  We've been a little busy and preoccupied.  As most of you know,  Frisk, Party of Five is now Frisk, Party of Six. :)  We spent most of September getting ready for my due date on September 29th.  Hubby's parents came about a week before my due date to be with the kiddos.
Absolutely love these two.
We celebrated Goose's birthday on the 26th.  Oddly enough he was due on September 29th as well.
We took him out to Applebees.
We all went to bed that night and little miss Hannah woke me up the next morning.  At 6:03 a.m. on September 27th, Hannah Michelle Frisk made her debut.

Weighing in at a perfect 7 lbs even and 20 inches long.  She is amazing and is so curious about everything already.  Her favorite place to sleep is in my arms and on my chest.

We did a mini shoot a few days after we got home, but I was pretty tired so we didn't do too much.  This is where it would come in handy to live near my friends who are also photographers.

God has so truly blessed us with another miracle.  I truly believe that one of the purposes that Addison came to fulfill was to give me a different perspective and truly learn to cherish and love my children in different way.  She opened my eyes to so many ways that I was losing sight.  But that is another story in itself.  We are enjoying our little rainbow baby and her brothers and sister are loving her to pieces.

All for now.

Remembering my Angel

October 12th we remembered our angel.  I spent the day constantly thinking about her last moments.  It was hard.  I found myself crying and going through her memory box.  She may have only lived for 24 hours, but she changed my life and views forever.  It's difficult sometimes to see a little girl that is around a year old and know that is where Addison may have been at this time, but I know that she is safe in the arms of my Savior.  I have experienced and felt a lot of emotions over the past year and to go over all of them would probably have me signing a book deal.  I can't even begin to describe in this blog what we went through during my pregnancy with Addison and how we have felt and dealt with our grief over the last year.  It is because of Addison and having to say goodbye that is partly the reason that I NEVER put Hannah down.  We are extremely grateful that God saw fit to bless us with Hannah just 2 weeks shy of Addison's 1st birthday.  When she gets older, we will tell her about her older sister. The way I deal with my children has changed.  To remember our angel, we sent up a sky lantern in her memory.
Ironically October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.  On that day, at 7:00 p.m., we light a candle to remember our babies that have passed.
We had our candle lit from October 12th, Addison's death date, until October 15th at midnight.  A few of the other babies that we remembered on the 15th were Andrew Hollingsworth, Goldie Mae Nichols, Pamela Hancock and a few others that may not have had a name yet.  We miss you Addison Grace.

She is here!

Our little miracle has arrived.
She made her appearance at 6:03a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013. She was 7 pounds and 20 inches.  Mommy and baby Hannah are doing wonderfully.  More updates will come soon.

38 Week Update

Well, Sunday we hit 38 weeks and I feel no closer to having this baby.

How Far Along: 38 weeks 1 day

Weight Gain: still the same, I may have gained a half a pound this week

Maternity Clothes: mostly sweats

Sleep: nonexistent

Miss Anything: sleeping on my stomach

Movement: when she moves, it's quite large but she's running out of room

Cravings: salty

Also, I've had several people ask about the things we have made for her so here are a few pics.
Changing pad cover
A small receiving blanket from the same material.  I actually made a couple of different types of receiving blankets from this material since I had so much.
Like this one
Another receiving blanket, you can never have too many.
I love making burp cloths. They're so easy.  I went and found a few coordinating fabrics and made these.
Had some fabric left over, so I made this quilt. I am in love with the piecey  look.
I fell in love with this fabric so that's what I made her diaper bag with.  On the inside is one of daddy's old uniforms.  I had some leftover so I made this quilt
It's a rag quilt and I also made her ring sling out of that fabric
We had some of daddy's uniform and turned it into a small diaper and wipes case carrier.
I made her a few headbands for all the photos we will be taking
There are also a few crotcheted pieces I made for her like this small green blanket with matching hat
Also this cute little pumpkin hat to go with her Halloween outfit we found at Walmart.
Not to mention this absolutely beautiful dresser that she and the Princess are going to share.  Daddy made it.  He is a very talented carpenter.  More on that later.
Whew.  Thanks for making it this far.  I hope enjoyed and we will keep everyone posted about when this little girl will make her debut.  All for now.

37 Week Update

Ok, we're now considered full term.  I figured I would give everyone some updates on how we're doing and where we are with Hannah.

How Far Along: 37 weeks

Weight Gain: average, about 25 lbs, but I'm feeling quite large considering this is a pregnancy right after a pregnancy and I didn't get to lose all the pregnancy weight from Addison.

Maternity Clothes: hardly anything, everything is uncomfortable

Stretch Marks:  what do you think, this is number 5

Sleep: hardly any

Cravings: none really

Gender: still a girl Hannah Michelle

Symptoms:  hip pain

Wedding rings still fit

Happy or Moody:  a little of both

Looking forward to:  Holding my angel and taking her home.

If there are any other things I missed, just let me know. :)  We're so ready to meet our little girl.  All for now.
