Week in Review Jan 24- Jan 30

What a wonderful week we have had. It was a little uneventful because I have been sick, but I think God has used this slow-paced week to show me what He has given me..... and to prepare me. A very dear friend of mine recently blogged about the battle we face when we are following Jesus. That could not be more true. In fact, some of the biggest battles you will face as a christian is with yourself and your selfish nature (speaking from experience here). Apparently though, God definitely has a plan because the hubby and I have unknowingly been on the same page about a few things. God has laid Haiti on our hearts and there are a few things that we are praying about and we would like to ask you to pray for us as well. Our wonderful new church family is creating crisis care kits to send and we very excited about that, but please continue to pray as God leads our hearts. On another note, homeschooling this week was awesome. This was a blessing since I did not feel good. We actually did a lot of art this week and the kids had a blast. The only frustrating part for the boys was trying to convince Little Woman to not help with EVERY project. Check out the pics.

Ok, now I know some of you are wondering about the craft of the week. Did anyone guess it? Well this week my inspiration came from a couple of places. Every Sunday afternoon, I sit down, clip coupons and plan my meals for the next week. I've always wanted a way to display those meals so everyone knew what we were having (and to keep myself on point). I researched a lot of different ideas and discovered a blog of someone who created a menu board. So I took a look at hers and made my own. It is a little different from hers, but I made it to suit me and my family. It was a quick little craft that definitely comes in handy and I love using it. Check it out.

I hope you enjoyed my week as much as I did. Keep looking for the new area of the blog. Monday Savings. All for now.

Week in Review Jan 17-Jan 23

Can you believe we reached the end of another week. Crazy. This past week was interesting and disappointing, but I am so very blessed and thankful to my God for every moment. Well we had another great week in homeschooling complete with fits, fights and 2 hour worksheets (you know what I'm talking about) but we had a blast. All 3 of my kiddos love to participate in something during learning time so here's my little woman cheesing for you after a hard days work of coloring.

Daddy likes to participate in learning time as well, so sometimes we wait for the evening so Big Man can do some with daddy.

And then when the kids leave the table after dinner, Hubby and I have staring contests.

Just kidding. He hates when I take shots of him. :P Well, we finally had some rain, yes rain not snow, and it melted all the snow we had. Apparently it still wasn't warm enough to melt the lake it's still frozen. It was melted for about a minute before this happened again.

It was quite frigid. In fact here are a couple of shots out of my kiddos bedroom window.

Now I want to point out that the ice crystals are actually on the out pane of glass. Although that really doesn't make it sound any better. It was still stinkin cold outside. :P Now for the disappointing part. Hubby's company has a conference every year that includes a ball. How fun! We found out that we were going to pay $31 for food and there was going to be childcare. I was kinda excited to be getting dressed up with my hubby in his dress uniform. So, I went out got my dress, my jewelry and my shoes. Well, the day before this thing kicks off we find out that food is not $31 but $62 dollars and that childcare is $21.......... a child. Yea right! So I tried to find childcare, but at last minute and in a town where you just moved, you don't have a lot of options. So I didn't get to go. Unfortunately, it was mandatory for hubby. Now, I'm telling you all of this to say, yes, it was disappointing, a little, but NOT THAT MUCH. It ended up being mandatory for him to stay for the entire thing. My kiddos would NOT have been happy about that. It ended at 10:00 p.m. No Way! So I'm going to use this as a lesson in frugality. You're probably thinking, ouch, you already bought your dress and jewelry and shoes, but what if I told you I spent $21 on all of it. Let me show you some shots because I decided since I had bought it all anyways I would put it on a take some pics.

First, I never pay full price for anything. I'm one of those coupon clippers every week that you get stuck behind at the grocery store, so let me tell you about my great deal.
Dress- Goodwill $5 It is a full length formal
Jewelry- Necklace and matching earrings set- Walmart $8
Shoes- Payless- Originally $26.99 On clearance for $8.
I did my own hair and makeup so that was free. Pretty good, huh.
I get pretty good deals just about every shopping trip and just might start a little spot on my blog about it. Let me know what you think about that. I'll let you know next week how this week goes. All for now.

Week in Review, Overdue!

Well, my intention Sunday night was to sit down and tell you about my week. That didn't happen. We built a tent with the kiddos on Sunday and ended up watching movies instead. I've been doing a little changing to my blog lately. Don't you love the picture at the top. I woke up one morning and that's what was out my kitchen window. God created some beautiful artwork, don'tcha think. First things first, I had a long discussion with a new homeschooling mom at the library and while we were talking she told me how discouraged she gets by reading successful homeschooling blogs that act like everything runs so smoothly with absolutely no problems. YEA RIGHT! If you have more that one child, that means you have to teach more than one personality. Good luck with that running smoothly everyday. So if I ever write about what we are doing in "school" just know that it wasn't perfect everyday, I can promise you that. Despite the frustrations we had a great week last week. In social studies, Big Man was studying one new country a day so we ended that day with a meal from that country. We definitely have some new favorite recipes after this experience. Here are some pics from this week.

As you can see, sometimes Learning time happens in our pjs. Especially if we have nowhere to go for the day. The most frustrating thing about last week was the inability to enjoy the outdoors. This was our house last week.

Oh, it's pretty, for one day and then it gets a little old, but I'm not going to complain because the toss up is no Texas summer. Now this is in no way trying to make anyone feel bad, because I can promise you that it doesn't always happen. I have three small children. A lot of things don't happen. Once a week I like to make a little something for my house or my kiddos or as a gift for someone. Last week's project was actually a little bag for me though. I usually only can work on crafts on the weekends so check out my new pretty.

Well, there's no way to really cover all the things going on in the Frisk house, so I'm sure I missed something. But you can bet to see some craziness every week. I hope you enjoy Week in Review. All for now.
